World of Wheels 2014 Photos

Calgary, Alberta

February 21-23, 2014

There had been some talk a few years ago between a couple Club members of having a World of Wheels display similar to what Ford had at the New York World's Fair in 1964.  The idea was set aside while other display ideas were used.  This idea was revitalized this past winter, with the upcoming 50th anniversary of the launch of the Ford Mustang.

The idea of replicating the Ford display to some degree would be perfect for the Club display for this year. We would have the three-legged arch, with a rotating Ford sign, and most importantly an early Mustang on a turntable.

Adding to the display was a birthday cake, candles, posters detailing events from the five decades, die-cast cars representing all the Mustang eras, and more.

With the ideas of our Club members and their talents, along with support from the business community, we put together another great Club Display. We won First Place in Best Club Display this year again. The Iron Indian (Pontiac) Auto Club finishing in Third Place, while the Northern Mopars Auto Club finished in Second Place.

The Club member cars once again helped make this Club Display a success. The cars displayed included a 1965 Coupe, 1965 convertible, a 1965 Hi-Po fastback, 1966 Resto-mod convertible, a 1965 Shelby GT350, 1968 California Special, and an un-restored 1969 Boss 429.

There also several other fine Fords at the World of Wheels, besides the ones in our display.

Thanks also to Scott H for providing the images of some of the "decades" posters that were used on the birthday cake. Great work that he and Gary C did with the posters.

Hope you enjoy the cars and the display.
