Our Club Display
theme this year was the "Club Memories and Events". The
real intent was to showcase the many events and activities our Club
is involved in each year. It includes being committed to supporting
local charities, putting on our annual Club event - the
Presidential, supporting and volunteering at the long-running
International Mustang Meet; held in a different locale each year, as
well as many other activities (Spring Fling, Poker run, and others)
that also include spouses and children.
Most of these six
Club cars had not been involved in the World of Wheels before, nor had most
of their owners. There were certainly many new memories created this
year and new friendships made. Many, many volunteer
hours by Club Members were spent in designing, constructing, and
setting up this display, along with the other items
submitted for display at this show.
Once again this year
it was a very hard-fought battle with the Club Displays! We won
Third Place in Best Club Display
again this year, as we were beat out by a very good display from the
Northern Mopars Auto Club who finished First, and the Iron Indian
(Pontiac) Auto Club finishing in
Second Place. I expect we will all be back next year, and we expect the competition
to again be fierce. Our Club will need to come up with another great
theme and display to stay "in the money" again next year.
There were also several other Mustangs at this Show, with photos of some
of them are also posted here.
In fact, Albert
organized a large display of 12 vehicles; many of them Mustangs,
along with several of the vehicles with "other" manufacturer badges
on them. It sounds like they all had a great time as well. Part of
their fun included having legendary NHRA drag racer Don Prudhomme
make a personal appearance at their display, and autographing
multiple items.
A new activity this
year during the weekend was a timed-event engine building
competition, involving small-block Chevy engines. Two Club members,
Bill and Martin signed up for this and had a great time during the
practice sessions and the actual event. They finished "out of the
money", but it was certainly a fun time.
Hope you enjoy our
cars and our display.
