Calgary, Alberta
June 25,
2011
We had planned for
months to hold our 28th
Annual Club Show and Shine in the beautiful park-like setting of
Stanley Park once again this year. You can really get
spoiled parking your car on the field, and to walk on grass all day long
instead of on asphalt. We had hoped to continue our relationship with the City of
Calgary and this venue.
However, that was
not to be, as the seemingly-unending rainfall during June had
completely saturated the grass. We would not be able to utilize
Stanley Park due to the fear of causing damage to the grass, as our
Club would be liable. This issue came to a head on Tuesday and our
Show was to be on the Saturday.!
We had an amazing
response from the Grey Eagle Casino, as they stepped up to allow
AMAC to hold our Show on one of their parking lots, with only a
couple days notice. Everything worked out, as we were able to inform
many Mustangers to the new location; we ended up with a beautiful
sunny day, and the Show was great.
We had a great
selection of Ford vehicles with a total of 116 of them turning out
for the event. Once again, we had a huge representation of the newer Mustangs. There was also good
support from other Ford Clubs in the city, including a large
contingent again from the Thunderbird Club.
Our charity again this
year is the Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter, and they were once again rewarded
with the generosity of the Mustang community. Many thanks as well to
all the volunteers that make this event the success it was.
Hope you enjoy some
of the photos on these two pages. If you were there, you hopefully had a good time. If not, try and
make it out for the Show in 2012.!
