This years'
Presidential Show and Shine had been eagerly anticipated for several
reasons by Club members and fellow Mustang and Ford enthusiasts. It
was to be be the 25th Annual Presidential. (has it really been that
long ago since former President Larry Lucas started this event?
Wow!)
The weather was
excellent once again this year
as we held our Show and Shine at a new location; the very scenic tree-lined
location of Stanley Park in south Calgary. You really are
spoiled getting to park your car on the field, and to walk on grass all day long
instead of on asphalt.
With the efforts to
promote the "25th", we anticipated that if the weather co-operated
then we would hopefully have a substantial increase in the number of
registrations over the past years events. We were not disappointed,
as we ended up with 153 vehicles registered, nearly a 50% increase
over the previous largest Presidential show.
We had extra
"goodies" for the participants, as well as many raffle prizes. We
had hot burgers and cold drinks on-site, with sales proceeds planned
for the Club charity, the Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter. (Thanks
also to Jim for making pancakes and sausages for the volunteers in
the morning!)
To summarize, we
believe this event was a complete success. Hope you enjoy some of
the photos on these two pages.
If you were there, you hopefully had a good time. If not, try and
make it out for the Show in 2009.!
Thanks as well to
active Club member Ken Werner for supplying some of
the photos from this years' event.
