This show was held
in Spokane, WA during the long weekend of September
2-5, 2011, and hosted by the
Inland Empire Mustang Club.
Spokane has now hosted the
International three times since its inception, with the other times being
in 1991 and 1997. This years Show and Shine was held at the host hotel,
Northern Quest Casino and Resort. The weather was quite
nice for the entire weekend, and seemed to get warmer as the weekend
progressed. A lot of us had not seen many of
the Mustangs and other Fords
that attended this event; so there was lots to look at, and everyone had a great time. This turned
out to be the largest International to-date, with 528 cars registered.
There was still room in the parking lot, as it was one of the larger
parking lots many of us had seen. Once again there was
certainly a large contingent of the '05-'09 Mustangs and Shelbys, as
well as a good number of 2010-11's. Some of the
other Fords and Mercurys included Fairlanes, pickups, Falcons, Torinos, and more.
This included Sunbeam Tigers and an original 427 AC Cobra.
There were a large number of modified Mustangs, SVTs, lots of early
fastbacks, and as has been seen across North America at other
Mustang and Ford shows, a huge percentage of the cars on hand are
2005 and newer. This trend is certain to continue. However, as is
often the case at the "American" Internationals, there is still a
large number of the early Mustangs; 1965-68.
AMAC members
certainly showed up in droves, and were noticed in Spokane. It
appears that 64 Club members brought a total of 34 cars to the
weekend, and collected 28 trophies for the Show and Shine. The Club
also brought back the "Club Participation Award" for 2011. As well,
members participated in the other events including drag racing,
autocross and cruises. A full listing of trophy winners can be found
on the Spokane website, at
http://www.inlandempiremustangclub.com/ .
There was great
hospitality put on by Spokane, and with a lot of volunteers this
was certainly a successful weekend; for which they can be very proud
of. Hope to see you next year in Winnipeg, MB.
